Description: This paper reviews the current state of the AIDS epidemic and the impact on non-drug-using heterosexuals. This paper shows that for most heterosexuals, the risk of becoming infected with the AIDS virus by sexual contact is insignificant compared with many other risks of life. Description: The results of the Large Group Medical Claims Study will be presented. Twenty-six insurers participated and nearly 200,000 claims were studied. Factors of the study included plan type, deductible level, hospitals versus other charges, age and gender of claimant, diagnosis, and ZIP code. Description: A recent study sheds light on the measurement and implications of the relationship between increased morbidity and declining disability. The results were not consistent across all populations. This study of the compression of morbidity is part of a wider project called the M-project, led by the four authors, which aims to explore the demographic factors leading to an increase in the adult longevity, investigate the phenomenon called the compression of mortality and develop a new methodological approach to longevity analysis with focus on the modal age at death M.
